Making our House a Home

With my sister's family coming, I finally got my bum in gear and organized our place so boxes and things weren't lying around in piles. This last Sunday, Brandon and I hung up some pictures to make our house feel more "homey". Here are some pics of the work in progress... Sunset outiside our house
Poor sleep deprived BK has dark circles under his eyes, and is sooo tired he's almost delusional.

Picture wall...we need to add to it but it turned out pretty cute.

It's official! I got my California RN license finally!!

I got a job last week but can't start until I get my RN endorsement in CA. This has been such a process and I definitely didn't think I would ever get the darn thing, but yesterday I looked up my name on the State Board of Nursing website (like I do everyday) and my name popped up! I can't believe it!! I'm so excited to finally be official and start working! I never thought I'd be so excited to work...but being the breadwinner is quite a stressful responsibility.
More good news...I've been trying to sell my car ever since I moved down here b/c BK and I don't need 2 cars since he walks to school. I showed my car to 2 different people yesterday and they both want to buy it! Hopefully I'll get everything taken care of in the next couple days so it'll be off our hands by the time Amanda and her family come down here next Thurs. BK and I will actually have some money to play with the kids and not be so stressed! Patience has never been one of my best attributes so all this waiting has been difficult for me, but things are finally starting to turn around! I'm so happy and feel so blessed!

The Cutest Kids in the World!

My baby sister, Ashlin, is taking a photography class. She took these pics of my niece and nephew (my oldest sister, Amanda's kids). I can't wait for them to come visit in 10 days! Happy early birthday to McKenna! She turns 9 tomorrow! I can't believe how grown up she is.

Husky Alum

We didn't get the channel that the Husky vs. ASU game was being shown on so I looked for a place where we could go watch it. I found a sports bar that is the "unofficial venue for U of W in San Diego" so we decided to check it out. It's in Pacific Beach which is a fun, college/surfer town. We walk into this huge beach house looking sports bar and the first thing I see is a Husky floor mat by the front door. This is a good sign :-) Then we see all these people wearing Husky gear...another good sign. One guy wearing an old school Husky shirt tells us that the game will be on the TV's in this certain section that's reserved for Husky Alums. (We find out later that this guy is the head of the Husky Alumni Association for San Diego-who knew there was such a thing!) Everyone was really friendly and it was fun to hang out with a bunch of Huskies to watch the game. Unfortunately, the game didn't turn out the way we wanted it to, but at least we could all be pissed off together. We're looking forward to going back to Pacific Beach Bar & Grill to join our fellow Huskies to cheer on the football team in weeks to come. Celebrating after we did something good
Some guy handed out pom poms to all the girls. I was very excited! I made sure to use it as much as I could.

Go Huskies!! We are smiling so this must be when we're winning...

Storm Watch 2009

I've been watching the news lately and the past few days all I've heard about is this "storm" that is heading our way. Yesterday was the first official day of the "storm". It turned out to be one of the nicest days in the past week or so...80 degree weather, sun shining--perfect if you ask me! I went to the beach and was happy to see how big the waves were from this supposed "storm". I spent the afternoon laying out reading and boogie boarding :-) Today is another beautiful, sunny day and I couldn't be happier about it!
It's been quite a struggle the past couple weeks with the stress of not having my RN license in CA come through yet, and not being able to get any answers on how much longer that process will take. Since I don't have my license I can't get a job, so my days are filled with frustration and stress, making this sunny, warm weather a much welcomed surprise! To add to my surprises I got some VERY exciting news this morning. My sister Amanda and her family will be coming down to Disneyland in 2 weeks! I will be picking them up after they spend a few days at Disneyland and driving them down here to stay with us for 3 days. The kids (McKenna & Bryson) will be here over Halloween and we're SOOOO excited to take them to Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo and the beaches! I've been missing the kids so much and just can't wait to hug and kiss them.
My last fun, happy surprise came last night when I was opening the gate that leads to our door and I saw a tree that had a big flower that just bloomed. I walked over to see what it was and found my favorite flower (and favorite color)! I've always wanted a hibiscus tree and now I have one! :-)

Pearl Jam Concert!

Last Friday, Brandon and I went to see his favorite band Pearl Jam play. He was BEYOND excited to go see them with me (it was my 1st time, his 7th). He actually came home early from school because he couldn't stay focused to study. We had a great time--Brandon sang at the top of his lungs and played air guitar during the entire 3 hour performance. I struggled to stay standing and match his excitement...my heels were killing me! Don't get me wrong, I love Pearl Jam, but Brandon's a fanatic! I've never seen anything like it. Well, maybe except when UW beat USC...He definitely isn't afraid to show his emotions, especially when he's excited about something. Here are some of the pictures from our fun night!
